THE NATURE OF US ALL
I admit that I have absolutely no reason to believe that the moon is the moon and the stars are the stars. No reason at all to assume that the big empty space above our heads is the sky and beyond that is space, an airless vacuum extending beyond our imaginations and our calculations.
What if our planet isn't a planet at all but something entirely different? An essential part of our existence that we've defined as a world among other worlds floating in limitless infinity?
What if trees aren't trees but something else? We know trees help the planet breathe, yet we cut them down and turn their earth into ambitious housing developments cemented with curbs and paved roads.
Most of all, what if we're not humans but some sort of advanced virtual identity with feelings and emotions enabling the manipulator, the one playing the game, to experience the labyrinths of life without jeopardizing their own? Is that the concept of a God? A master manipulator among many others who experiences both the joys and trauma of life through virtual contact using nothing more than simple software?
We think we're humans. We identify ourselves as humans. We applaud our sentient awareness of ourselves we’re aware of self imposed limitations and imagined vulnerabilities in order to identify the internal from the external. We assume we're alive because whatever this time and space is that we're involved in permits us to engage with it. From being devoured by the beast or terminated by our fading mortality, all of us are conscious of the process. That means we are self aware of whatever it is we are; be it virtual, organic, or otherwise.
Nature is chaotic and since we are nature and not separate from it, we're chaotic as well. How odd then that we demand discipline and order in the things we construct and create, convincing ourselves that there is a separate essential mortality between what we think we are and the nature in which we involuntarily exist. That if we create some" thing" that isn't chaotic but orderly, then we've accomplished something really significant and independent and therefore no longer need to abide by natures lawfully imposed restrictions, using our architecture and design as testament to our achievement.
Just remember that whatever it is we are and wherever we happen to be is a moment of awareness in all infinity.
