WHO ARE YOU NOW?
You're not the same person you were when you woke up this morning just as you're not the same person now that you will be when you go to bed tonight. Every experience, everything your eyes have seen, billions of bits of unconscious information has adjusted your perception of who you are and how you live life. The person you are at night is not the same person you are during the day.
Why is it we insist we have only a one personality when in fact we have many? You prove it to yourself every day. You know very well that the person you were earlier isn't the one you are now. You may look the same on the outside, but you've evolved on the inside. We're too busy to notice this change unless we take our time to feel it and understand it and rid ourselves of the ridiculous notion that we're a single simpleton bouncing around inside a movable bag of skin, blood, muscle, and bone.
You realize that and I know I do but none of us ever admits to having more than one personality because we don't want to be judged by others as someone who's unstable or whose circuit board has shorted out. After all, If I have 25 different personalities how will you know which one is "the real me" which is a totally absurd notion given that there is no real me, no tangible ego that can be looked at, taken out, and studied.
When I get in my car I'm a different person than I was when I walked to my car. Why?
Because my experience with the external world is always reshuffling itself, my internal world reacts by firing off fresh impulses, thoughts, and actions. Notice who you are the next time you're in the supermarket. Or the personality you are when you're in the shower or looking at yourself in the mirror.
I believe we have a friendly crew of different personalities and that we change and evolve and adapt while at the same time our sub consciousness mans the bridge. The personality that’s uncomfortable adapting to sudden change is entirely different from the one that has sex.
I have a lot of fun with this because it’s much more entertaining than accepting the academic directive that we are only a single self and that suggesting otherwise is madness.
Be aware of all the different personalities you are as you bungle your way through your day. Who are you now as you read this or listen to it? Look who you've become.
And don't forget you're here to have fun. Enjoy yourself, no matter who you are.
