INTESTINAL TURBULANCE

I went to the doctor today because I felt just fine. I didn't have a cold or the flu. I wasn't congested and my body didn't ache.

I had diarrhea.

You can get diarrhea from all sorts of things. I'd eaten Mexican food the night before and just figured I'd eaten too many beans. Beans will go through your intestinal track like race cars. I wasn't sick either. I felt fine except for this mysterious diarrhea thing that occurred out of nowhere. I took an Imodium D tablet and it stopped the diarrhea. I figured I was safe and didn't have to take another tablet. I ate a huge meal of fish, cottage cheese, yogurt, butter, salad dressing and the next day the diarrhea came right back stronger than ever.

I didn't have any symptoms during the day except belching and gas bubbling in my stomach. This was unusual so I called my doctor. He did blood and urine tests and had me blow into a plastic bag thing with a nozzle on top. Then he had me drink some liquid and told me to wait fifteen minutes. When the time was up he came back and had me exhale into another bag with a nozzle on it. They do this breath test to check for bacteria.

I'm supposed to stay away from dairy products for four days to give my intestines a rest. The reason I can't have any dairy products at all is because an enzyme that breaks down dairy products is wiped out by the diarrhea. By not consuming dairy products I won't have any issues. I can go back to eating cheese sticks and yogurt and butter on Monday after my intestines have had a rest.

I was glad I didn't have some strange disease. He did a test for Hepatitis A because you can get that from eating at restaurants which I imagine is the most common means of transmission.

I've been fine all day. Haven't had a problem. I'm eating pretzels, saltine crackers, apples and salad with no dressing. Hopefully this diet will get me back on my regular diet so I don't have to eat those crappy white crackers anymore.
