Rhode Island Department of Transportation crews began work overnight on Interstate 195.
The milling and paving operations are taking place in both directions of the highway through the crossover from South Main Street to the Washington Bridge.
Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in both directions of the high from 9 pm to 5 am through Friday morning.
The work comes as the third westbound lane on the bridge was opened Saturday morning.
